Alaska Airline

The fifth largest airline in the United States, Alaska Airlines has it’s headquartered in Seattle. Founded as McGee Airways in 1932, it officially started operating as Alaska Airlines 74 years ago on June 06, 1944. With the fleet size of 320, this American airline has flights to about 119 destinations in the adjacent countries including United States, Mexico, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, and Costa Rica. For consecutive eleven years, the airline is ranked by J.D. Power and Associates for the highest customer satisfaction rate.

Alaska Air Group expands its presence in California and the West Coast by acquiring Virgin America airlines in April 2016. Early this year, on January 11, 2018, the United States Department of Transportation issued an operating certificate for the combined Alaska and Virgin America airlines. On April 25, 2018, both airlines merged into the same passenger service system which means the customer-facing sections of the company have a single brand i.e. Alaska Airlines.

The current fleet of Alaska Airlines primarily consists of Boeing 737 series aircraft, and Airbus A320 aircraft formerly managed by Virgin America. As of October 2018, all the regional flights are operated with Alaska-owned Bombardier Q400 and Embraer 175 planes.

The current cargo fleet of Alaska Airlines consists of three Boeing 737-700 freighter jets that were previously operated as passenger aircraft and then converted to cargo aircraft.

In October 2003, World Airline Entertainment Association (WAEA) recognized Alaska Airlines for having the first portable hard-drive based audio-video-on-demand player with the variety of films and programs.

The airline introduced Alaska Beyond in 2015 with in-flight Entertainment tablets replacing digEplayers. All wi-fi enabled aircraft to have Alaska Beyond allowing passengers in First Class and Coach to use Gogo Video player on their own device. Every Alaska Airlines jets are decked out with an in-flight wi-fi and streaming entertainment system.
