Ethiopian Airlines, formerly Ethiopian Air Lines (EAL) and often referred to as simply Ethiopian, is an Ethiopian flag carrier and is entirely owned by the Government of the country. EAL began activities on 8 April 1946 and expanded to include global flights in 1951.

Its hub and headquarters are located at Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa, where it operates a network of 125 passenger destinations—20 of them domestic — and 44 freighter destinations. The airline operates secondary hubs in Togo and Malawi. Ethiopian is Africa’s largest airline in terms of passengers, destination, fleet size and income. Ethiopian is also the fourth largest airline in the world in terms of amount of nations served.

  • Cloud Nine: The Business Class of Ethiopian Airlines is called Cloud Nine. Passengers traveling in this class are supplied with on-board facilities and a broad range of reading materials.
